After a heavy week of PD sessions last week, Jenn and I were able to sit down at the end of the day to start collaboratively developing the continuum portion of our project! Today we focused on building a continuum for the "collaboration" fluency, which is one of the 7 C's of 21st Century Learning. I think we have a great start and it feels good to have this portion of the project underway! We are not prepared to share it yet, but here are a few of the things we explored:
- An understanding of collaboration both offline and online and the ability to transfer seamlessly between the two
- Student proficiency in drawing upon their strengths to work collaboratively with others
- How students can work together to generate ideas and reach a goal in a digital space
- Student ability to build on each other's ideas within a collaborative online environment
- Student self-awareness of the strengths they can offer in a collaborative setting
- Student proficiency in critically reflecting upon the creative process of their collaboration
- Student sensitivity to cultural differences within a collaborative atmosphere
- Student awareness of and sensitivity to digital inequity, as well as the factors that impact ease of digital access, posing barriers to collaboration
We define "collaboration" as working together to reach a goal by combining talent and expertise to learn from, and contribute to the learning of, others. Some of the digital skills included in "collaboration" include:
- Sharing projects and assignments, discussing ideas
- Collaborating and publishing with peers or experts using a variety of digital platforms and media (both face-to-face and online).
- Contributing to project teams to produce original works or solve problems.
As we develop more, we will keep you up-to-date!
